The transit advocacy group TTCriders has set its sights on the mayoral race and released a report card grading the transit improvement plans of the main three contenders John Tory, Doug Ford and Olivia Chow.

Last evening I rode the 134C from Scarborough Town Centre to Centennial College for the mayoral debate. Although I suspect that I was one of the few debate participants who came by transit, the bendy buses going the other way were loaded to the doors with students.

When the news leaked out that Metrolinx had been planning to charge over $25 for a trip on the new Union-Pearson express train, airport workers and public transit users were outraged. And when a spokesperson from the provincial-appointed transit agency referred to the planned line as “a boutique service for businesspeople going to the airport”, people got organized.
