Stop GO Train Cuts

Metrolinx is cutting GO train service just as the school year starts, under the watch of a provincial government that claims to be tackling traffic congestion. Since September 5, GO Transit has drastically reduced service:

  • Termination of nearly all weekday trains to Niagara Falls
  • Doubling wait times on the Lakeshore Lines on weekends
  • 73% cut to weekend train service on the Barrie and Stouffville Lines
  • Significantly reduced evening and night service on the Barrie and Stouffville Lines
While GO Transit has replacement bus service, buses don’t stop at GO stations in Toronto - only outside of Toronto.
Metrolinx is undoing years of service improvements through inadequate staffing and private contracting fallouts. Moreover, Metrolinx has failed to deliver frequent, all-day GO train service within Toronto under their mismanagement of GO Expansion.

Do you rely on the Lakeshore, Barrie, or Stouffville Lines to travel around Toronto or to other parts of the region? Speak up against GO Transit service cuts and ask your Member of Provincial Parliament to:

  • Work to reverse GO Transit service cuts with specific dates
  • Ensure there is a bus replacement service for GO riders within Toronto in the interim
  • Implement transit/HOV lanes on highways and ensure reliable and frequent GO bus service
  • Commit to deliver 15-minute all-day train service on GO lines and upgrade infrastructure and signalling to allow for better service with clear timelines for the public
  • Develop a plan to end the privatization of GO Transit operations, and bring operations under public control
