UPDATE (May 6, 2014): City Council has approved a change to the TTC Board appointment list to replace Kevin Marshman with Maureen Adamson. 

On Thursday April 30th, the media began spreading the word about the recently announced recommendations for public appointments to the TTC Commission.

Council candidates graded on public transit

This week the Public Transit Coalition (PTC) released an report card grading some candidates for City Council on a range of transit-related issues.

Candidates where emailed 10 "Yes or No" questions about building the Transit City plan, keeping the TTC publicly owned and governed, and the need for sustainable operating subsidies to keep TTC fares in check. The Danger of Distraction

In recent days, some mayoral candidates have signalled they think privatizing TTC routes will solve problems facing the TTC. A healthy debate around this proposition is worthwhile. But it shouldn't distract from the biggest problem facing the TTC: a Provincial Government that does not pay their fair share of public transit operating costs.
