On February 7th and 11th the City Budget Committee visited four locations around the city to hear members of the public speak about their priorities for the 2019 budget. Dozens of residents and TTCriders members made powerful deputations about the need to invest in better transit that is affordable for everyone. The Budget Committee also heard from many others who supported our call to action for a fairly funded TTC in order to build an equitable and thriving city that takes real climate action.

Put the brakes on subway takeover: riders group

February 12, 2019 (Toronto, ON) — Transit advocacy group TTCriders says the Terms of Reference released by the City and Province on subway upload negotiations is missing two crucial aspects: the City’s capacity to oppose it and the principle of affordability. 

“Premier Ford hasn’t convinced anyone that stealing the subway will deliver better transit,” said Shelagh Pizey-Allen. “This city’s transit riders deserve much better.”

Advocates warn TTC delays, crowding will worsen without investment

January 24, (Toronto, ON) – Transit riders and members of transit advocacy organizations will attend this afternoon’s TTC Board meeting to speak against proposed fare increases and urge Board members to increase TTC funding.
