The TTC is undergoing a process to develop a 5-Year Service Plan. There are some great things in the opportunities identified by the TTC already, but the plan is being limited in scope by the TTC to the current funding levels from the City. While this may be a responsible baseline to set for the service plan, they should be creating a roadmap for drastically improving service in a way that fully addresses overcrowding and reliability across the network. This would give us a fuller picture of what resources are needed from the City to adequately fund TTC service.

Before starting consultations with riders, they have identified 5 “emerging opportunities” to pursue to improve reliability, crowding, wait times, trip duration and affordability.
Two really promising opportunities identified are to prioritize transit and design better bus stops on busy routes.
Prioritizing transit on 18 key surface transit corridors that see over 30,000 trips per day on average. These corridors are used by 22 bus and streetcar routes, not including express bus counterparts.

Improving 22 bus and streetcar stops where over 4,500 boardings take place per day. Only six stops on the GO network see this level of boardings.

Strategies to enhance customer experience at these stops include:
- Enhanced shelters which are larger, protected and heated
- Expanded and pleasant waiting areas
- Provision of real-time information communicating expected arrival times
- Provision of Wi-Fifor customers
- Construction of accessible platforms
- Expansion of on-street bus bays to accommodate multiple bus berths
