Generally speaking, those who advocate privatization of transit infrastructure projects justify their stance by claiming that the public sector does not have the ability or expertise to manage them. For example, in its Editorial of March 21, 2015, relating to the York-Spadina Subway Extension, the Star supported hiring “outside managers [to complete the project] at a cost of about $150 million.” and stated that “… the TTC has shown that it’s simply not up to the job.” and “… should not be managing any future major transit projects.” The Editorial also mentioned that TTC head, Andy Byford, had already let go two TTC executives (Andy Bertolo and Sameh Ghaly) in order to give the project a “change in leadership.”

TTCriders criticized the Liberal Government’s decision today to delay the construction of the Sheppard LRT until 2021.
Take action: tell your MPP to build both the Sheppard and Finch LRTs.
“While we obviously support the Liberal Government’s move to stay on track with the Finch LRT build out, delaying the Sheppard LRT yet again until 2021, is totally unacceptable,” said Brenda Thompson, of TTCriders. “It seems like they want to delay the Sheppard LRT to the point of killing it,” she said.
UPDATE (May 6, 2014): City Council has approved a change to the TTC Board appointment list to replace Kevin Marshman with Maureen Adamson.
On Thursday April 30th, the media began spreading the word about the recently announced recommendations for public appointments to the TTC Commission.
On Wednesday April 29, TTCriders, the Ontario Chinese Seniors Association, the Toronto Chinese Seniors Association, the Toronto Seniors Forum, and PTP Adult Learning and Employment Programs came out in big numbers at the last minute to support Councillor Crisanti's motion to do a quick feasibility study to assess the cost of providing seniors with $1 fares. Thank you Councillor Cristanti.
Last Monday April 27, over 40 TTCriders members and friends took to 10 different subways and buses and encouraged our fellow transit riders to take action and ask their elected officials to fairly fund the TTC.

Do you believe in improving transit in Toronto? Me too. That's why I'm a member of Toronto's awesome grassroots transit advocacy organization, TTCriders. I'd like you to be a TTCriders member too.
This Wednesday April 29, the TTC Commission will vote to move forward on lowering senior fares to $1 during off peak hours.
The motion by Councillor Crisanti asks the TTC CEO to assess the feasibility of doing a six month pilot to let seniors ride for a $1 during off peak hours. (The City loves to study stuff first, but this study will be done in two months.)
Yep, the heading about summarizes it. Many of the announcements about improving service had already been announced or were funded in previous budgets.
This was supposed to be a transit budget but riders got essentially nothing new.
