A Scarborough LRT is as easy as ABC

Living in East Scarborough (Ward 43 of Toronto), I often imagine what my everyday experiences as a TTC commuter would be like if we had a 24-stop LRT network running through our community - if we were less reliant on buses. Could those of us who crowd onto the 86, only to be stuck in traffic created by cars, be liberated by rapid and reliable transit? Could I ride my bike or walk to an LRT station, making all of Toronto - the downtown core, Etobicoke, North York, and the rest of Scarborough - so much more accessible to me?

Transit riders demand fair pass after yet another delay

Yesterday, the Fair Fare Coalition, TTCriders, and the Ontario Chinese Canadian Association and friends held a press conference at City Hall to challenge the City’s last minute decision to delay the long-overdue plan to give lower fares to low income riders.

The Advisory Committee on Accessible Transit (ACAT) is making it easier for all riders to take the bus.  They have created “Accessibility Flashcards”.

So efficient it hurts

TTCriders has launched the “So Efficient It Hurts” campaign to help Mayor John Tory make North America’s most efficient transit system even more efficient.

TTCriders will be releasing memes, short videos, and crowdsourced ideas on Twitter, Facebook, and the website soefficientithurts.com until the 2017 TTC budget reaches the TTC Board meeting on Wednesday, September 28, 2016.

Who voted to have the TTC, along with all city departments, cut their budgets by 2.6% in 2017 and absorb all increases?  That amounts to about a 12% cut folks!

I distributed postcards at the picnic at Lotherton Summer Festival, 100 Lotherton Pathway, Lotherton Green Space (new Caledonia and Lawrence West) on August 20. It is an area of high-rise buildings where we just walked around, with no table. The event was organized by the North York Community House. There was food, music, bouncy castle, and information booths, etc. It was a real family event.
