Toronto City Councillors are voting soon on the 2021 City Budget, which affects transit service and fare levels. City Council must do more to make transit affordable and safe during the pandemic.
The pandemic has changed the way we think about public services like the TTC. Transit doesn’t just get us from A to B, it is a lifeline that connects us to essential jobs, health care, and groceries.
It's more important than ever for transit riders to have a voice and share our vision. The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) is creating a 5-year plan for transit fares. Without input from riders like you, the new plan won't reflect our needs.
Toronto City Council votes February 18, 2021 on the City Budget. On January 25 and 26, 2021, members of the public have the opportunity to speak to City Councillors about what they would like to see in the budget.

Essential workers: “Invest in TTC service and masks”
December 17 2020 (Toronto, ON) -- On the morning of the 2021 TTC budget launch, essential workers called on the TTC to address crowding and ensure that face masks are being used.
“Essential workers like me depend on public transit to get to work,” said Malinda Francis, a personal support worker. “We need more buses across the city to ensure that riders are distanced on the TTC, equalized across the city. If there needs to be 100 more buses on certain bus lines then let’s make it happen.”
