A new report by transit user group TTCriders is calling for lower fares to win back transit riders and make the TTC safe and accessible now. TTC ridership is at approximately 30% of pre-pandemic levels. World class cities like Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. are introducing lower fares and more frequent, reliable service to win back riders and address inequalities.

Disability advocates say thousands will lose access to Wheel-Trans under TTC “screening out” program

June 15, 2021 (Toronto, ON) -- Disability advocates are raising the alarm about the TTC’s plans to move forward with a “screening out” program. A report being debated at the TTC Board on June 16, 2021 says that the agency plans to “divert” 50% of Wheel-Trans users to using the conventional TTC for parts of their trips by 2025.

“Don’t screen us out of Wheel-Trans access!” said TTCriders Accessibility Committee member Adam Cohoon. “It is completely unacceptable to force disabled people onto overcrowded buses where people are not wearing masks.”

The TTC is creating a "5-Year Fare Plan." Join the community townhalls to share your experiences with fares and payment options and what you want to see change.

A presentation about how to apply for the Fair Pass be followed by breakout discussion rooms on Zoom. Anonymous feedback will be shared with the TTC after the event.

We had to quickly adapt to challenges such as transitioning from in-person learning to online learning platforms, missing out on in-person internship placements and networking, and working from home.
