The transition to Presto must be fair

The TTC and Metrolinx held a public forum on the transition to Presto on December 11, 2018, thanks to the advocacy of the Fair Fare Coalition.

The TTC and Metrolinx will be introducing a paper Presto ticket to replace tokens. But concerns remain, including:

  • Presto tickets will only be sold at Shoppers Drug Marts and subway stations, severely reducing access, especially in suburban neighbourhoods.
  • Presto tickets will have an expiry date.
  • Presto tickets will only be available for purchase for a cash fare, or in multiples of 400 tickets at a time.
  • Agencies and organizations that distribute tokens have not been adequately consulted.

What we can do:

1. Please sign the open letter below on behalf of your organization before April 9th! Download a PDF of the open letter

2. The TTC is collecting feedback from organizations before April 8th using this form

3. Share this information with as many agencies and organizations as possible.

📸 Rally to Open the Crosstown

On February 19, 2025, TTCriders held the Rally to Open the Crosstown at Yonge and Eglinton to call for answers about the Eglinton Crosstown and Finch West LRT projects. Promised opening dates for the LRTs have come and gone, while transit costs have skyrocketed under Metrolinx. Transit riders are looking for answers and credible opening dates for the Eglinton Crosstown and Finch West LRTs.
TTCriders asked every party to invest in running TTC service and new LRTs with a 50% operating subsidy for local transit systems, and to give the TTC back control over running Toronto transit, to keep costs down and increase accountability.
