Transit News

Global News reports on the pop-up bus lane installed by volunteers on Dufferin Street. "Transit advocates are demanding candidates commit to an expansion of the city’s rapid bus corridors. While experts agree expanding surface networks would be an affordable and quick way of delivering transit priorities, the mayoral frontrunner says it’s not so easy."

With bus lane planning and construction in Toronto stalled, transit advocates did what the current Mayor and Council have failed to.

(Toronto, ON) October 12, 2022 - TTCriders, a membership-based transit advocacy organization, released the following statement in support of members and volunteers who installed a temporary bus lane on Dufferin Street early this morning.

After years of work and weekend subway closures, the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) has finally installed automatic train control on Line 1 (the Yonge/University/Spadina line). The announcement was made on the same day TTCRiders ranked John Tory last out of Toronto mayoral candidates based on each one’s public transit promises ahead of the upcoming municipal election.
