The Fair Pass and two-hour transfers are almost won!

Yesterday the City Budget Committee approved two of our three key transit demands in this year's budget: the low income Fair Pass and two-hour transfers!

Thank you to everyone who took action with TTCriders and the Fair Fare Coalition to make this happen. When we organize together, we win.

What's next?

The budget still needs to be approved by the Executive Committee on February 6, then City Council will vote on the budget starting February 12.

The Budget Committee also approved $1 million to reduce overcrowding yesterday. Our organizing has pressured them to respond to the need for more service, but unfortunately this will not be enough funding to fix the TTC's overcrowding problem. The TTC needs $12.5 million to adhere to its own crowding standards.

3 ways to take action to fix overcrowding

1) Join us next Tuesday, January 30 at our Transit Day of Action to demand better TTC service in 2018.

2) Send a message to John Tory and your City Councillor to fund better TTC service to fix overcrowding in this year's budget.

3) Join the conversation about overcrowding with the hashtag #CantGetOn. Tag us in photos of your overcrowded commute.

Letter & Survey: TTC must exchange expired tokens and tickets

Do you still have TTC tokens or paper senior/student tickets or day passes? The TTC has announced that they will stop accepting TTC tokens and paper tickets after December 31, 2024. But the TTC will not be issuing exchanges. This is unfair to people who have saved up tokens and tickets, especially low-income seniors. Gift cards and permanent stamps never expire --  why are transit fares any different?
