Reliability is the number one concern facing the TTC. Buses are the backbone of transit in Etobicoke Centre, so frequency and reliability are particularly important. Missing a bus or facing an unpredictable wait can make the difference between transit being a practical option and someone deciding it’s easier to take a car.
Toronto already has a strong transit network, and the bones of an excellent, world-class one with the right decision-making. Our extensive suburban bus service is a major asset, while the streetcar network represents enormous untapped potential in the centre of the city. Dedicated lanes where appropriate, better signal priority, fewer conflicts with turning and parked vehicles, modernized switches and accessible boarding could make much better use of the infrastructure we already have.
More dependable service can attract riders, support fare revenue, and build public confidence in further transit investment.
