About the role

The Workshop Coordinator will lead the development and delivery of TTCriders’ public education and outreach programming. They will organize and facilitate engaging workshops on a range of issues, from riders’ rights and accessibility to affordability and service reliability, ensuring that community members understand their transit rights and how to take collective action to improve the system.

This role will be central to our Know Your Transit Rights campaign, which provides accessible information about riders’ rights when dealing with fare enforcement, paratransit access, and new TTC policies. But it will also expand to other TTCriders campaigns that have a “Know Your Rights” or civic education component, helping residents connect everyday transit issues to systemic change.

Responsibilities 

  • Plan, organize, and facilitate accessible in-person and online workshops across Toronto on topics such as riders’ rights, transit safety, accessibility, and affordability.
  • Coordinate workshop logistics including scheduling, venue booking, accessibility and language interpretation, and participant outreach.
  • Support “train the trainer” sessions to build volunteer leadership and ensure TTCriders’ education work continues to reach new audiences.
  • Develop partnerships with community agencies, legal clinics, worker organizations, and grassroots groups to deliver workshops and share resources.
  • Build relationships with groups serving disabled, low-income, migrant, and racialized riders to co-create and adapt workshop content.
  • Coordinate outreach and distribution of educational materials (print and digital) at transit stations, community events, and partner organizations.
  • Collaborate with TTCriders’ staff and volunteer committees to connect workshops with ongoing campaigns and advocacy.
  • Support the development and updating of plain-language materials, handouts, and digital content.
  • Track participation data, feedback, and impact metrics for internal learning and funder reporting.
  • Coordinate translation, printing, and accessibility improvements for materials and events.
  • Other duties as required.  

Qualifications and Experience: 

  • At least 2 years of experience in workshop facilitation, community organizing, adult education, or public outreach.
  • Experience working with volunteers and coalitions.
  • Demonstrated commitment to social justice, accessibility, and equity.
  • Experience working with diverse communities, including people with disabilities, migrants, and low-income residents.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and comfort with public speaking.
  • Strong project management, organization, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings or weekends for workshops or events.

  • Excellent research, writing, and communication skills
  • Creative, resourceful, and strategic thinker with problem-solving skills
  • Understanding of social justice issues and commitment to anti-oppressive practices
  • Familiarity with digital campaign tools (e.g. NationBuilder, NewMode, ActionButton) and social media platforms (e.g. Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, TikTok) is an asset
  • Graphic design and web development skills are an asset
  • Speaking or writing in language(s) additional to English is an asset
  • Experience working with the media is an asset

Terms of Employment

Hours: Permanent, full time 35 hours/week

Compensation: $42,610 - $59,000

Salary commensurate with experience

Start date: Early November 2025 

Location: Toronto, Canada. Hybrid work, with 1 to 2 days in office in downtown Toronto. 

Flexibility required to work during weekends and evenings when volunteers and members of the public are available for meetings and events.
