RapidTO is a misnomer in that it’s not promising rapid transit but rather it can be rapidly rolled out by staff. Both McCowan and Finch East are in my ward and while I strongly support increasing the service, the current RapidTO model is unlikely to attract many new riders. For surface buses to be competitive with cars they need to be fast, reliable and convenient. I therefore prefer focusing on bus rapid transit that runs through the middle of the lanes, with supplement regular bus service on the outside lanes as a far more effective way to do surface rapid transit in Ward 23.
