Better Transit, Better Streets: Let’s build a better TTC for all of us!
Late vehicles. Long Commutes. Overcrowding. Enough is enough—Let's demand better transit!
Join us for a workshop in collaboration with Jane Finch Action Against Poverty where we will share stories and have an open discussion about how to improve the TTC and win more riders onto the system. We will be covering topics like transit safety, affordability and fare capping, more frequent service, and more. We’d love to see you there—and appreciate your help spreading the word!
What is the "Ridership Growth Strategy?" (RGS)
TTC rider numbers have not increased enough since COVID: in 2019, the TTC saw 525 mil. riders. By 2028, the TTC projects just 447–470 mil. trips—still far below pre-pandemic levels. We’ve all felt the impact of under-investment: subway slow zones, overcrowded & unreliable buses, & cuts to service.
TTC depends too much on fare revenue because of lack of provincial & federal investment—fares covered 62.6% of its budget in 2019. That’s recovered to just 42%. Without stable investment, we risk a transit death spiral: worse service drives people away, making service even worse.

The City of Toronto is developing a Ridership Growth Strategy to determine ways to get people using the TTC. We need to make sure that the voices of riders are listened to during the process—especially from under-served areas like Jane and Finch.
