Here's the full video of former Transit City mayor, David Miller, speaking about transit activism in Toronto

"I love the name. It's not TTC customers. Riders have a right. You've got some right to a say over the TTC. It's our transit system, owned by the people of Toronto."

With that emphatic statement, David Miller capped a fantastic fundraising drive and social event. Many thanks to everyone who came out to our 2015 fundraiser. A special thanks to Mary Breen, our incredible Fundraising Director, for orchestrating the event from start to finish.

A few highlights:

  • The lovely violin music of our TTC busker, Shelley Coopersmith.
  • A spoken word performance about finding and losing love on the TTC by MC Evalyn Parry.
  • Our live auction which generated a variety of surprises and thrills!
  • Guest appearances by Jagmeet Singh MPP Bramalea-Gore-Malton, Arif Virani MP Parkdale - High Park, former MPP Jonah Shein, former city council candidate Dan Fox and many other civic leaders, who came out to show love and solidarity for this movement.
  • An extra special appearance by our Executive Director, and new mom, Jess Bell.
  • Our silent auction full of locally handmade items, many with transit imagery and themes.
  • Spacing's table of transit-inspired buttons, books and magazines.

Letter & Survey: TTC must exchange expired tokens and tickets

Do you still have TTC tokens or paper senior/student tickets or day passes? The TTC has announced that they will stop accepting TTC tokens and paper tickets after December 31, 2024. But the TTC will not be issuing exchanges. This is unfair to people who have saved up tokens and tickets, especially low-income seniors. Gift cards and permanent stamps never expire --  why are transit fares any different?
