You should know when your next train is! Yet, a report from the TTC’s Audit and Risk Management Committee says that real-time arrival data for Line 6 is not available. That’s because the data is controlled by Metrolinx and private contractors, and hasn’t been fully shared with the TTC or the public.
Many transit riders rely on apps like the Transit App or Google Maps to accurately plan their trips across the city. If these apps aren’t getting live data, then their function is basically meaningless.
We’re calling on Metrolinx and corporate partners Mosaic and Crosslinx to work with the TTC to release the data on Lines 5 and 6 so that it’s ready as soon as possible. This must be ready by the end of the soft launch phase in May.
Add your name to call on Metrolinx to:
-
Release real-time (GTFS-RT) vehicle data for Lines 5 and 6
-
Ensure the TTC, next train displays, and third-party apps can show accurate arrival times
- Provide the same level of transparency as the rest of the TTC network
Riders deserve transparency and consistency across our network. Frankly, these are issues that should have been anticipated before the lines opened.
Metrolinx have made commitments to being more open and transparent moving forward, but those promises fall flat when we see things like this. Public trust can start to be restored by releasing real-time data for Lines 5 and 6 as soon as possible.
