Big TTC Votes at March City Council Meetings

The agenda for the March 5th and 6th Toronto City Council meeting features a very interesting item for TTCriders.  Council will debate changes to the governance structure of the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC).
The TTC Board is on track to be shaken up a bit. Mayor Ford's Executive Committee is forwarding this report to Council for consideration. As reported in the Toronto Star several City Councillors have different ideas on how to best reconstitute the TTC Board.

Stay tuned for an update once Council has voted on reshaping  the TTC Board.

On March 21st the report and recommendations of the Sheppard Transit Expert Advisory Panel will be presented for Council's consideration at a another special meeting. This meeting could be the last hurdle to Council approving a complete plan for the expansion of public transit in Toronto.

The Expert Panel was struck at Council's last special meeting on February 8th to review transit and funding options and recommend the most effective means of delivering rapid transit to the greatest number of riders with the funds available for Sheppard Avenue.

📸 Rally to Open the Crosstown

On February 19, 2025, TTCriders held the Rally to Open the Crosstown at Yonge and Eglinton to call for answers about the Eglinton Crosstown and Finch West LRT projects. Promised opening dates for the LRTs have come and gone, while transit costs have skyrocketed under Metrolinx. Transit riders are looking for answers and credible opening dates for the Eglinton Crosstown and Finch West LRTs.
TTCriders asked every party to invest in running TTC service and new LRTs with a 50% operating subsidy for local transit systems, and to give the TTC back control over running Toronto transit, to keep costs down and increase accountability.
