I think Toronto should also explore ways to offer lower fares for short-distance trips. It doesn’t make much sense to pay the full $3.30 fare just to hop on a streetcar and get off two or three stops later.
A lower fare for shorter trips could make transit more affordable and encourage more people to use the TTC for short-distance travel, similar to the distance-based fare systems used in Japan.
