Additional Comments by Candidates

"I am a strong supporter of TTC riders. My priorities are keeping fares frozen, lowering the fare cap so additional rides become free sooner, and improving service frequency, reliability, safety and accessibility. I will support the funding needed to maintain tracks, vehicles and stations, repair Reduced Speed Zones safely and quickly, and prevent maintenance problems from becoming prolonged service disruptions. I also support clearer signage, dependable Wheel-Trans service, improved lighting, visible TTC staff, trained mental-health crisis teams and appropriate emergency responses. Residents should not have to choose between transportation and necessities such as food or housing. A safe, reliable and affordable TTC makes everyday life easier, supports local businesses, connects people with opportunities and helps reduce congestion."

"Toronto needs to treat transit and transportation as essential infrastructure, not as projects competing for attention from one budget to the next. That means long-term capital planning, protecting the state of good repair, funding accessibility and Wheel-Trans, and ensuring expansion does not come at the expense of reliable everyday service.

I will advocate at City Hall and with provincial and federal governments for the operating and capital funding Toronto’s transit system requires. As an independent candidate, I am not accountable to a political party. My decisions will be based on evidence, the needs of Ward 14, and what works for all of Toronto.

For me, responsible budgeting means setting priorities, funding the enabling infrastructure, measuring progress, and being accountable for results. Ambitious transit policy matters, and plans only become better transit when we fund and implement them."

"Every dollar invested in the TTC produces $7 of benefits to our city as documented by the University of Toronto."

"I believe Toronto needs to revive the Rocket. During my previous eight years on City Council, I helped deliver the TTC's two-hour transfer, making transit more convenient and affordable for riders. If elected, my focus will be on the fundamentals: frequent and reliable service, affordability, accessibility, safety, state of good repair and accountability for results. After eight years at City Hall and eight years working on the ground with businesses, residents and community organizations, I know that ambitious plans matter but so does making the system work better for riders every day."
