I would advocate for making the Line 4 extension a priority. Our ward does not have a single subway station, LRT, or streetcar, and our community still relies heavily on buses.
The Line 4 extension has been proposed and discussed for many years, but it has repeatedly been pushed back. I believe it’s time to move it forward and give our community the rapid transit connection it has been waiting for.

We need practical solutions that prevent crises, protect riders, and keep transit moving safely and reliably.

I answered No for question 16 because I believe this is an issue that requires a more conservative approach. We have to be more tough on crime. Yes, prevention is better than resolution but clearly these tactics have not been working. I believe this is a secondary approach but we should primarily be more punitive towards people who intentionally cause the problems.
Disorderly patrons are the main cause of delays on the TTC. Add to the fact that people intentionally avoid fares; it becomes clear as to why the quality of service has drastically decreased. I would propose to hire more fare inspectors that are also qualified to serve as security guards and explore the authority to fine disruptive individuals. If the current fine amount does not act as a deterrent, then we need to increase them. As a woman, I have felt unsafe on the TTC many times. The public disruption and harassment immediately needs to stop. After being fined, these individuals can then seek out resources from the Toronto Community Crisis Service. I will advocate for fare inspectors to have more authority prior to the expansion of.the Toronto Community Crisis Service though.
