Olivia Chow is running for re-election as Mayor to continue building a caring, affordable and safe Toronto. As Mayor, she has invested hundreds of millions of dollars in the TTC, including securing an agreement with all levels of government to purchase new subway cars for Line 2, starting the installation of Automated Train Control on Line 2, making record investments in transit service across the city, and reducing the state-of-good-repair backlog by 50% with funding from the Ontario-Toronto New Deal. Olivia is running to continue delivering results for transit riders with a TTC that works for everyone.

Toronto needs an engineer who fixes flow. Align with riders: local control of the TTC, tax billionaires for operating/capital so fares aren’t the funding plan, Clear the Lanes + RapidTO + streetcar reform, free/fare-freeze path with Fair Pass and student affordability, accessibility and crisis care on the system. Deadline matters — I’m answering TTCriders in full. bahira.ca · Be The Change.

The ttc deserves to be recognized as the best public transit system in the world and i will do what it takes to make that happen.

My vision as Mayor is to make public transit the most convenient and attractive way to get around Toronto. Reliability is currently the number one problem with our transit system. It does not move Torontonians as fast as it should. This is a result of ageing infrastructure, operational issues, disruptions caused by the public and congestion on street-level routes.
Transit reliability is an equity issue. Unreliable transit means budgeting extra time in your schedule because the streetcar is not going to get you to work on time or the subway will shut down mid-trip. This is time that could be spent with family or friends or putting in another hour of work before the weekend. Unreliable transit disproportionately impacts people who have no other way to travel around Toronto.
Toronto is in dire need of a Transportation Master Plan overseen by a dedicated team, responsible for managing all aspects of the transit system and accountable to the public for reporting on results.

Toronto's transit system is the lifeline of the city. My goal is not simply to get people onto the TTC, but to build a system that people can afford, access, trust and rely on.
My central commitment is Free TTC starting November 2026, alongside investment in reliability, accessibility, safety and service. I will work with TTC riders, accessibility advocates, workers, City Council and other levels of government to build a transit system that serves the entire city.

Toronto needs a modern, reliable and accessible transit system that serves everyone and plans for future growth.

The TTC is disgusting, needs to be cleaned and cleared of those using drugs and the homeless

I don't have a driver's license and have never had to rely on a car thanks to the TTC. That's why improving its service and rider experience is of utmost importance to me!

TTC drivers are (generally) great at providing customer service. When we see one being extra patient, smiling and cheerful with passengers, it's important that we call (416) 393-3030, choose Option 6 and let them know what caring person that they have working for them.
