TORONTO - Save your selfie TTC riders: John Tory already knows you’re grumpy.

The transit advocacy group TTCriders is encouraging people to send a selfie via Twitter with the hashtag #grumpyrider to elected officials the next time they feel “grumpy” while taking the TTC.

TORONTO – Are you tired of bad transit service in Toronto? If so, why not snap a “grumpy” selfie, send it to Kathleen Wynne, John Tory, and City Hall and demand better service?

That’s exactly what a transit advocacy group is encouraging commuters to do when they encounter delays and poor service from the Toronto Transit Commission.

Transit advocacy group TTCriders wants Torontonians to weigh in on who’s been naughty and nice this year in transit: voting is now open for its 2014 Transit Troll and Transit Champion Awards. Nominees for the former are Doug Ford; Prime Minister Stephen Harper; Councillor Giorgio Mammoliti (Ward 7, York West); and Premier Kathleen Wynne. Those up for the latter are TTC CEO Andy Byford; the Fair Fare Coalition’s Sheryl Lindsay; Councillor Joe Mihevc (Ward 21, St. Paul’s West); and writer, transit activist, and Torontoist contributor Steve Munro. Troll and champion will be announced December 4.

Last evening I rode the 134C from Scarborough Town Centre to Centennial College for the mayoral debate. Although I suspect that I was one of the few debate participants who came by transit, the bendy buses going the other way were loaded to the doors with students.

Last Tuesday September 23rd, members of Scarborough Transit Action and CodeRedTO attended a transit talk at Agincourt Collegiate Institute. Also in attendance were Scarborough MPPs Bas Balkissoon, Soo Wong, Minister of Transportation, Steven Del Duca and Ward 38 council candidate, Kevin Winson . LRV prototype image - AARON HARRIS - FOR THE TORONTO STAR

Thanks Ben Spurr for your article on the city agreeing to come up with a plan to come up with a low-income TTC pass.

Here's the article below, and you can also read it on NOW's site.

It often seems like there’s no shortage of complaints when it comes to the TTC: overcrowded trips, frequently dicey service, and ever-increasing fares. But at least most of us are able to afford a ride.
