The TTC has released a report recommending that the Scarborough RT (“Line 3”) be shut down in 2023. But a rapid transit replacement won't be built until 2029 at the very earliest. People travelling between Scarborough Town Centre and Kennedy Station will be taking buses for at least six years. Click here to read the staff report (PDF).
What the 2021 City Budget means for transit riders
Toronto City Councillors are voting soon on the 2021 City Budget, which affects transit service and fare levels. City Council must do more to make transit affordable and safe during the pandemic.
Why Bill 107 derails transit
The provincial government will soon be voting on Bill 107, legislation that will give the Minister of Transportation new powers to decide what transit gets built (or doesn't get built) in Toronto. The provincial transit takeover means more delays, less accountability, and opens the TTC up to privatization. To improve transit, the province needs to reverse its $1.1 billion cuts to TTC funding, not break apart and take over the system. Please send a message to Premier Ford now and sign up to volunteer with us to oppose the TTC cuts and takeover!
