The TTC belongs to Toronto. We pay for it through our TTC fares and our property taxes. The TTC has owned, operated, and maintained Toronto's public transit system since 1921.
The provincial budget day was just announced, and the timing couldn’t be better. The budget will be tabled the day after TTCriders’ Sardine Ride and Rally on March 27 to call for more provincial funding for the TTC. This is a key time to take action for better transit, because this is the last budget before the election.
Our transit agency, the TTC, is about to set service standards and fare levels for 2018. The problem is the TTC doesn't have enough money because Mayor John Tory and Premier Wynne refuse to fairly fund the TTC.
Thank you so much for coming to our transit summit. It is so important that we get to know each other and make friends, improve our organizing skills, and assess and improve our goals and plans to win real change for transit riders.
