They've never seen a public consultation like this one

At a Wheel-Trans public consultation earlier this year, choir members delivered a musical message to oppose the TTC’s plan to force some people with disabilities and seniors onto the conventional TTCalso known as the "Family of Services" program.

Long-time Wheel-Trans user and choir member Jane Field explains why the Family of Services program must not become mandatory in this new video.

📸 Delivering a ticket to MPs for "fund evasion"

Volunteers delivered an oversized “fund evasion” ticket to Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland’s office on April 25, 2024. Transit users are urging the federal government to make critical investments in TTC reliability and safety by speeding up the Permanent Public Transit Fund and funding new subway trains.

John Tory's Service Cuts

John Tory's transit budgets are methodically and systematically destroying the TTC through less frequent, slower and overcrowded service.

For the 2017 budget, John Tory is now talking about a minor increase in funding to avoid service reductions. The reality is that service already has been reduced due to TTC budget shortfalls. In addition to this, today's service does not even meet the TTC's own standards, due to overcrowded routes.

Efficiency, Efficiency, Efficiency

Efficient: adj. 2a. Acting or producing effectively with a minimum of waste, expense, or unnecessary effort.

“Efficiency” has been the buzz word of late in official discussions about the TTC.

I first noticed it in the TTC’s proposed 2014 operating budget document. A few days later I was at the TTC board meeting in order to depute on this budget and heard the TTC commissioners repeat this same word as an accomplishment and a primary concern.  I was a bit surprised at this emphasis on “efficiency”; here I thought that we would have a discussion about how to get the things that are more important to me as a TTC rider and a Torontonian, such as whether the TTC will help Torontonians get around more easily or quickly next year (the operating budget document helps answer that question, and the answer is basically “no”).

Bad Grades for TTC in TTCriders' Report Card

Today, TTCriders released its first ever report card evaluating the TTC’s performance from the perspective of TTC users.

The report card rates the TTC on how well it has done in achieving five goals important to TTC users which are key parts of  TTCriders' Vision: creating fair and affordable fares; building modern, fast transit to all corners of the city as fast as possible; making public transit fully accessible transit; providing frequent service that connects all of Toronto; and environmental sustainability.

Support More Funding for TTC Operations

At this Wednesday's TTC Commission meeting there is a motion to ask City Council for additional funds needed to improve transit service on several overcrowded routes. The TTC has finally recognized they need to operate more service to meet the needs of the incredibly increasing number of riders.
