The Toronto Transit Commission meets on October 19th at 1:00pm in Committee Room # 2 in Toronto City Hall. Click here to review the agenda for their meeting.

Steve Munro, Toronto's expert TTC advocate, has published a preview of the TTC meeting which can be found on his blog.

On Tuesday October 25th TTCriders will meet to discuss the current state of public transit in Toronto.

This meeting will include a question and answer session with special guest, Chris Upfold, the TTC's Chief Customer Service Officer.  Mr. Upfold has agreed to attend the meeting, answer questions transit riders have, and he has stated his interest in working WITH US to help improve the TTC.

At their special budget meeting this morning, the Transit Commission ignored the pleas of transit riders and approved an Operating Budget that will reduce TTC service throughout the city in 2012.

At a time of record ridership, it is even more of a major step backward to reduce TTC service.  The budget adopted by the Commission means riders can look forward to even more crowding on TTC vehicles, reductions in the frequency of buses, and less transit vehicles operating during rush hour on some of the TTC’s busiest routes.

Mayor Rob Ford is forcing the TTC to make bad business decisions by imposing an absolute 10% cut to TTC funding. With more riders than at any time in the TTC’s 90 year history, cuts to TTC service are completely unjustifiable!

Please call or email TTC Commissioners right now & ask them to say no to TTC cuts!

Toronto's City Manager hasn't ruled out any of the following transit cuts suggested by KPMG:

Attention all TTCriders! Mayor Ford's Executive Committee needs to hear from you! We need to speak out against these cuts at the Executive Committee meeting on Thursday, July 28th!

The latest report written by external consultant’s hired by the City to conduct a review of City services suggests the City could save money by implementing major service cuts aimed directly at TTC riders. (Scroll down to page 80 and page 161 to review the suggested TTC cuts.)

Monday's Toronto Star features an excellent column on the TTC by Joe Fiorito,  the Star's City Columnist.  In his column Joe Fiorito interviews three anonymous transit workers on the sorry state of the  system and the poor relations between workers, riders and management.

The Toronto Transit Commission meets on June 8th at 1:00 pm with a packed agenda.  Here are some of the big items before the Commission on Wednesday:

  • A preliminary 2012 Operating Budget showing a shortfall of at least $39 million. This shortfall doesn't include the added costs of collective bargaining after the TTC has been declared an essential service. This new reality could add another $20 or $30 million in expenses to the operating budget.

The following is a brief report from TTC rider Jacob L. on the City's recent Planning and Growth Management committee meeting.

The meeting included two separate motions requesting information on how to improve public transit on Finch Ave West and Sheppard Ave East, now that Mayor Ford and Metrolinx have moved away from the planned Finch West and Sheppard East Light Rail Transit lines.
