Unfair fare hikes.  Delays.  Overcrowding.  Toronto has a transit crisis.

The provincial government used to help pay for the costs of operating the TTC  but has stopped doing so, even though demand for public transit has reached record highs.

More fare hikes are in the works, even though riders in Toronto get less government-subsidy per ride than riders in other North American cities.  We already pay too much.

Torontonians deserve better

The city and provincial government must contribute its fair share of funding to the TTC so we get frequent, fast and affordable transit now.

We are asking for $2.60 a ride. We currently get about $1.00 a ride.  If we got $2.60 a ride we could do a lot, including:

  • an increase in overall service by at least 25%
  • 10 minutes or better service on all routes from 6am to 1am across the city
  • More express service on key routes
  • a fare reduction of 20 cents a ride, for a total saving of $100 a year for frequent users
  • $1 token and $50 metropass for workers earning less than $23,000, and free TTC for people on Ontario Works and Ontario Disability.

Everyone wins when we fund the TTC. We reduce gridlock. We help stop climate change.   And we get the public transit we deserve.
